Your score, explained.
The basics of how credit scores work, what affects them, and how Cred Health fits in.
What is a credit score?
A number that lenders use to judge how likely you are to repay borrowed money. It's based on your credit history: your accounts, your payments, and any negative markers like defaults or CCJs. Higher usually means better rates and more options.
Credit score factors
Payment history, utilisation, credit age, and public records like the electoral register all play a part. Some factors move the needle more than others, and Cred Health shows you which ones matter most for you.
Tracking your score
Your score isn't fixed. It shifts month to month based on your payments, your balances, and new activity on your file. Cred Health tracks it automatically so you can see where you're heading.
Improving your score
Cred Health can't improve your score directly, but seeing what's affecting it is the first step. Small changes like paying on time, keeping balances low, and staying on the electoral register add up over time.
